Metamask surpasses 10 million monthly active users
On Tuesday Consensys announced that their digital currency wallet Metamask has surpassed the 10 million monthly active users (MAUs) mark.
Metamask sees 1,800% growth since last year
In the press release Consensys explains that the platform had 545,080 monthly active users in July 2020, and as of April 2021, Metamask had been able to increase that number to 3 million. But according to new data, Metamask now has 10,354,279 MAUs and has seen 1,800% growth since July 2020.One of the reasons that Metamask was able to grow is because of DeFi users interacting with 17,000 unique Web3 domains using their software. The second reason for this exponential growth is the popularity of NFTs and the use of Metamask to interact with marketplaces such as OpenSea.
Two other things accelerated the growth of Metamask. One of them was the token swap feature. Next to that Metamask their mobile software gave an additional boost to the blockchain wallet in September 2020.
The launch of a mobile version of MetaMask last September has played a key role in expanding its audience. It attracted new users from places like the Philippines, Vietnam, China, India, Indonesia, Thailand, and Brazil.
