SEC delays four Bitcoin ETF deadlines by 45 days
On Friday, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced that it extended the deadlines for four Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) by 45 days.
The approval of four Bitcoin ETFs have been pushed back
The Bitcoin ETFs that have been delayed are Global X Bitcoin Trust, Valkyrie XBTO Bitcoin Futures Fund, WisdomTree Bitcoin Trust, and Kryptoin Bitcoin ETF. The deadline for them has been pushed back to their respective dates: November 21, December 8, December 11, and December 24.The SEC said in its official statement, "The Commission finds that it is appropriate to designate a longer period within which to take action on the proposed rule change so that it has sufficient time to consider the proposed rule change and any comments."
Could the SEC approve an ETF in October?
In September, investment firm Invesco and New York-based Galaxy Digital Funds filed a Bitcoin ETF called Invesco Galaxy. The ETF security offering, which is currently awaiting approval, has the potential to be listed on U.S. national exchanges, assuring potential customers that all private keys would be closely guarded through a variety of technological and physical deterrents.Analysts recently predicted that the SEC could approve a Bitcoin ETF by the end of October, highlighting ProShares' Bitcoin futures ETF as the most likely candidate. They also pointed out that the regulator "should "permit several at once to avoid handing out the first-mover advantage." It looks like the ProShares Bitcoin Futures ETF is not on the list of ETFs where the deadline has been extended, so it is still possible that the analysts are right.
