Messi to launch his NFT collection
Legendary Argentinian and soccer forward Lionel Messi has announced that he will soon launch his nonfungible token (NFT) collection. He will become the latest sports celebrity to launch an NFT collection.According to the Barcelona icon, the NFT collection will honor his career. Messi is set to work with blockchain platform Ethernity, with the project called “The Messiverse.” It will allow fans to invest in the football player.
In their press release, Ethernity said, “Fresh off a new five-year contract with FC Barcelona, legendary forward Lionel Messi has unveiled his first-ever officially licensed NFT collection with blockchain platform Ethernity as part of an ambitious project known as “The Messiverse.”
Three NFTs for Messi
The NFTs will be exclusive and available only on the Ethernity website. The collection will feature three nonfungible token collectibles designed by Australian artist Bosslogic. The first NFT is dubbed “Man From the Future,” and it will depict Messi in an AI bionic form.The second piece will be called “Worth the Weight,” and it will see Messi in the form of Atlas, bearing the weight of the world on his shoulders. The third piece, “The King Piece,” with Messi in the middle of a chess game.
NFTs have become popular amongst celebrities, with some leading sportsmen like Tom Brady and Floyd Mayweather launching their collections earlier this year.
