A job posting from Ripple hints at its plan for expansion in India
Ripple, a real-time gross settlement system that uses the XRP token for settlement of payments, has clear intentions of expanding into India, according to a report. Last week, it was noticed by the crypto community that the firm had put out a job posting for the role of Senior Project Manager and the location of the job was in Bengaluru, the capital of India's southern Karnataka state.
Ripple to expand into India?
Posting a job in India indicates that Ripple has indeed plans to expand operations in India, the world's biggest democracy and the nation with the highest number of internet users. As per the job description, the person who applies for the job is required to direct the company's ties with various central banks. Interestingly, the post will also oversee the execution of numerous Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) projects.However, this isn't the only time Ripple has shown intentions of expanding into India. In 2017, Ripple announced the opening of its Mumbai offices and also appointed Navin Gupta as the country manager. At that time, the CEO of the firm, Brad Garlinghouse, said:
"India is transforming itself into a digital economy and is an innovative leader in payments. Our new office in Mumbai, led by Navin, will allow us to respond to the rapidly-growing demand for frictionless payments by our current customers, Axis Bank, and YES Bank, as well as other bank and non-banks across the country."
IPO soon?
In another report, Cryptonary revealed that Ripple is possibly gunning for an Initial Public Offering (IPO) after its lawsuit with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) ends.
