Alfa Romeo uses NFT to track its latest Tonale SUV
Stellantis owned Italian auto brand Alfa Romeo has brought its latest car, Tonale SUV, which is claimed to be the first in the industry to link each car to its own dedicated blockchain-based token, Tonale NFT.
Alfa Romeo to track the whole life cycle of Tonale SUV
Alfa Romeo claims that the Tonale NFT certifies the associated car upon purchase and subsequently records and saves all the data during the vehicle's whole life cycle.During a media briefing, the head of global marketing and communication at Alfa Romeo, Francesco Calcara, said:
"Upon customer's consent, the NFT will record vehicle data, generating a certificate that can be used as a guarantee of the car's overall status, with a positive impact on its residual value."The NFT, according to Alfa Romeo, will store vehicle data and generate a certificate that would be used to verify the maintenance status of the car, resulting in a higher residual value. Notably, the vehicle must be serviced by a licensed Alfa Romeo dealer for recording the data.
The company expects that the orders for the Tonale will be open in the fourth quarter of 2022 and will be made available in the first quarter of 2023. It has not disclosed the pricing of the NFT-linked car by the time of publication.

On the other hand, Mercedes-Benz and Art2People have collaborated to launch a limited-edition Mercedes-Benz NFT collection.
