Argent launches on Layer 2 as its waiting list exceeds 500K
According to a report from TechCrunch, the Argent crypto wallet has officially launched on the Layer 2 solution ZkSync.
Argent picks up zkSync
As per the report, the crypto wallet decided to pick up zero-knowledge rollup implementations from zkSync, Zero-knowledge rollup implementations like zkSync are particularly cost-effective because a validity proof is created based on hundreds of transactions. This validity proof is then posted to the main Ethereum blockchain, and transactions at Layer 2 cannot be modified because they would not match the validity proof.It is also important to note that Argent claims that the transactions will cost as low as $1 for each transaction. Ethereum is known for its huge transaction fees, and with the integration of tech from zkSync in its layer 2 solution, the DeFi wallet aims to provide a smoother and cost-effective alternative to investors.
500K waitlist and 'Vaults'
Argent began giving customers early access to the layer 2 account in October, according to a blog post last month., but it has now shared that nearly 500,000 people have joined the waiting list since Argent began accepting the Layer 2 solution ZkSync as a standard.Wallets of users who didn't use Argent on Layer 2 not disappear, but the Ethereum main network will no longer be the default network for users. The wallets that are still active on the Ethereum main network are called "Vaults". Argent has also developed a wallet on StarkNet, another Ethereum scaling solution, called Argent X, but that wallet is currently only a "developer tool, for now."
