BAYC Discord 'compromised briefly': 1 MAYC has been stolen
The Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), one of the biggest NFT collections to ever exist, has a Discord channel which was briefly compromised, as per a recent report. Furthermore, the official Twitter account of the NFT collection by Yuga Labs also confirmed this event which caused a rattle in the NFT community.
BAYC Discord compromised!
NFT owners need to look out for their BAYCs, MAYCs, Meebits, CryptoPunks, all of which are now owned by Yuga Labs, which purchased CryptoPunks from Larva Labs as per a recent report from Cryptonary. As confirmed by the official account of BAYC on Twitter, the Discord channel of the project was actually compromised via hackers.In their tweet, which can be seen above, the BAYC official account confirmed that there are also other Discord channels that are being attacked. As a result, the developers requested the users to not mint any NFT using Discord in order to protect themselves from the attacks that are implemented by scammers.
It is also important to note that a Twitter user confirmed that 1 MAYC was stolen and that the funds were being directed to this phishing address.
Furthermore, another Twitter user shared the messages that the scammers sent into the Discord channel to attract the users and phish them, draining them of their BAYC or MAYC.
Crypto turns into a wild west!
The world of crypto has turned into the wild west as the Doodles Discord was also attacked but the developers have been silent on the same. It is also important to note that NFTs from Jay Chou, a Taiwanese singer, songwriter, rapper, and record producer, was stolen, including a BAYC, MAYC, & two Doodles, as per PeckShield.The Twitter user @zachxbt confirmed that the two phishing links sent to the Discord of BAYC and Doodles seem to be quite similar.
On the other hand, Cryptonary recently noted that there are several verified Twitter accounts that are targeting NFT owners and phishing them for the tokens. We advise you to stay strong and alert!
