Scammers target Binance users via SMSS
In a tweet on Friday, Changpeng Zhao, the CEO of the world's leading cryptocurrency exchange Binance, warned of a phishing scam campaign targeting the exchange's users. He explained in his tweet that there is a massive phishing scam via SMS with a link to cancel withdrawals. It leads to a phishing website to grab your credentials. The CEO also reiterated that users should always bookmark the site or type it in and never use any dubious links.Phishing scams are no longer uncommon scams. The scammers use emails or SMS to trick you into giving them your personal information. They may try to steal your passwords, account numbers, or social security numbers. Once they have this information, they can access your email, bank, or other accounts. These phishing emails and text messages often look like they come from a company you know or trust. However, most companies would never ask you to provide your credentials via SMS or email.

Binance's CEO is no stranger to phishing scams. In 2020, he offered help to a podcast host who had lost his Bitcoin savings to a phishing scam. At the time, a podcast host named Eric Savics lost $113,000 worth of Bitcoin after downloading a fake app from the Google Chrome Store. The CEOs of Binance and CoinCorner said to have the phishing address blacklisted.Many of these scams also target messaging apps like WhatsApp, Discord, and Telegram by sending users texts about fake offers and giveaways. Unsuspecting investors click on these messages and are duped.
