Jordan Peterson believes Bitcoin is more good than bad
Jordan Peterson published a podcast titled “Bitcoin: The Future of Money?” earlier this week, where he talked about the leading cryptocurrency with some popular Bitcoiners, including John Vallis, Der Gigi; Richard James; and Robert Breedlove.In the podcast, Peterson sought understanding of Bitcoin by asking the panelists some questions. Following their descriptions of Bitcoin, Peterson stated that he believes Bitcoin tilts towards more good than bad. “The very act of Bitcoin sanctifying the sovereignty of the individual is actually tilting individuals towards doing something good rather than something bad. It’s not just neutral as Gigi was laying out, there’s an intrinsic ethic to Bitcoin that is more likely to tilt it in a positive direction,” Peterson said.
The psychologist stated that he thinks it is an interesting idea that Bitcoin provides an incorruptible language of value. He learned about Bitcoin from the answers provided by the guests and pointed out the obvious; that the leading cryptocurrency is completely transparent, completely distributed, no centralized authority, it can’t be cracked, it can’t be stolen, it doesn’t inflate, and it isn’t subject to any form of overt administrative control.
Peterson has an interesting take on Bitcoin’s energy usage
Bitcoin has come under attack for its massive energy usage by the likes of Elon Musk. However, Jordan Peterson has a different outlook on Bitcoin and its energy usage. According to Peterson, the energy expended in creating and maintaining bitcoins is recouped through the efficiency the cryptocurrency creates.“And so there’ll be a net energy gain, not a net energy loss if you calculated it across the entire system. And so it’s a mistake just to look at the cost of generating Bitcoin in the absence of considering the efficiencies that bitcoin would produce,” he added.
The popular psychologist showed an eagerness to learn about Bitcoin and be corrected in aspects he was wrong about the cryptocurrency.
