Chainalysis integration to help BNY Mellon track customer’s crypto transactions
The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation, also known as BNY Mellon, has decided to track their customer’s cryptocurrency transactions, as per a recent announcement. The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation is the world’s largest custodian bank and will take the help of Chainalysis to track transactions.
BNY Mellon takes a step forward
BNY Mellon is taking a step forward in terms of crypto regulation, and as per the announcement, the bank will be the first Global Systemically Important Bank “with plans to utilize Chainalysis’s compliance software as part of their risk management program.”It is important to note that BNY Mellon will form a new cryptocurrency service to its customers, and this new development will be a part of that venture of the firm. The firm will integrate the full Chainalysis compliance software suite that will track the cryptocurrency trend in a broad manner and also track smaller activities for customer compliance.
Furthermore, BNY Mellon had earlier announced that it aims to build a “new enterprise Digital Assets unit that will accelerate the development of solutions and capabilities to help clients address growing and evolving needs related to the growth of digital assets, including cryptocurrencies.”
Caroline Butler, Global Head of Custody, Tax and Network Management for BNY Mellon, added in her statement:
“Working with Chainalysis and other leading fintech providers is foundational to our role as a trusted innovator and the extension of our capabilities into products that serve the growing cryptocurrency market.”
The tech
The risk management suite from Chainalysis includes Chainalysis KYT (Know Your Transaction), Reactor, and Kryptos. The KYT has the capability to monitor continuous, real-time transactions, which can help in the detection of risky transactions. On the other hand, the Reactor is an analysis tool that will allow BNY Mellon to dive deeper into suspicious transactions that might be criminal in nature. At last, the Kryptos allows a deeper insight into the transaction volumes, counterparties, and benchmarking.Another important thing to note is that Chainalysis recently reported that criminal whales collectively hold $25 billion worth crypto.
