Coinbase Custody goes international
Coinbase Custody was launched in the United States in 2017 by the famous cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase to serve institutional clients and offer them secure storage solutions for digital assets as it remains one of the biggest hurdles towards global adoption.
According to a new press release, Coinbase Custody will now be serving institutional clients in Europe with a new base in Dublin, Ireland. The announcement states that “Europe is our fastest growing geographic segment and our international launch is a direct result of client demand”. This hardly comes as a surprise as we’ve seen multiple large institutions such as Fidelity Investments with their new venture FDS that recently expanded to Europe for that same purpose.
This recent surge in demand from players with large capital is yet another confirmation that digital assets are truly being embraced as a new asset class. Bitcoin in particular caught the attention of major players with the CME, Bakkt and possibly NASDAQ and recent price movement have been indicating that it is truly becoming the digital gold; a non-correlated asset that investors seek shelter in during times of uncertainty.
Coinbase added: “Over the coming months, we plan to support more assets and launch new features that will continue to demonstrate that Coinbase Custody is the most trusted and innovative place for institutions to store their crypto assets”, which might be the open gate for more assets, other than Bitcoin, to be institutionally embraced.
