Crypto.com (CRO) shakes hands with LA's Angel City Football Club
Crypto.com, a major cryptocurrency platform, has revealed in a Tuesday blog that it will partner with Angel City Football Club (ACFC), a planned National Women's Soccer League expansion team. The firm is joining the team as a founding partner and also the team's official cryptocurrency and NFT partner, making this the first partnership of a crypto-based services provider and a professional women's sports team.
Crypto.com's new venture
Crypto.com will be the official sponsorship partner of ACFC, and the goal of the partnership is to increase the awareness around "cryptocurrencies, blockchain, and Web3 technologies among LA soccer fans, ACFC players, and across the broader ACFC organization." The official blog statement from the firm also said that the partnership aims to boost "financial education, independence, and financial empowerment.""ACFC is mission-driven to create a different kind of football club that levels the playing field in women's sports, mirroring Crypto.com's mission to level the playing field financially through cryptocurrencies," the blog said.ACFC Co-Founder and President Julie Uhrman pointed out that the deal represents "Angel City's goal to drive equity for women" and to provide them with the resources to be financially independent.
Uhrman also commented on the increased adoption of DeFi and the crypto craze. "Given the speed with which Web3 and cryptocurrency are changing our world, we want to ensure that women are being brought along on the journey as investors and creators," she said.
Making history
Crypto.com has focused its resources on striking partnerships and getting its name out. Recently, the firm also made a historic partnership with AEG, the organization behind Staples Center, renaming the building to Crypto.com Arena. This deal cost the firm around $700 million and will last for 20 years. The first few photos from the Arena were revealed by Farbod Esnaashari, credentialed.This has been quite a year for Crypto.com as the platform partnered with UFC in July, followed by a partnership with Paris Saint-Germain in the month of September. On the other hand, the firm also partnered with a Philadelphian basketball team, 76ers, in September.
