El Salvador to bring 20 bills for regulating Bitcoin bonds issuance
El Salvador's administration, led by President Nayib Bukele, has prepared a set of 20 laws to provide a legal framework for the issuance of Bitcoin (BTC) bonds.
El Salvador would regulate securities issuance
The proposed laws by El Salvador would address regulations for issuing securities as cryptocurrency, according to Alejandro Zelaya, chief of the treasury. He told the Salvadoran newspaper, El Mundo, on Tuesday that the proposed bills will ensure the Bitcoin bonds validity suggested in November 2021.He did not, however, set any strict time frame for the officials to present to parliament.
A part of Bitcoin bond sale goes to paying down $800M Eurobond
President Nayib Bukele has vowed that the $1 billion raised from the bond offering will go toward the Bitcoin City plan, which will provide "digital and technological education, geothermal energy for the entire city, and efficient and sustainable public transportation."A portion of the money raised from the bond sale could be used to pay down an $800 million Eurobond, which would be due in January 2023. Instead of another Eurobond issue, Zelaya said that the country would look for investors to help them meet their commitment to pay off the Eurobonds.

Zelaya also cleared that El Salvador's participation in traditional finance would not be hampered by the issuance of Bitcoin bonds as he says, "We are not going to abandon the traditional market."
