El Salvador rolls out fuel incentives for BTC users
The El Salvador government is working hard to ensure that more people in the country use their Chivo wallets to pay for goods and services using bitcoins. The government has now rolled out a new incentive that would see more people adopt the leading cryptocurrency.Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele has announced that citizens can enjoy a $0.20-per-gallon reduction in petrol prices when they pay using the government-backed Bitcoin wallet. The president described this latest development as positive news for the pockets of Salvadorians
The president said, “The state company Chivo negotiated with the largest gas station companies in our country so that starting tomorrow, their stations will sell each gallon of fuel $ 0.20 cheaper, with Chivo wallet.”
The president added that there is no limit to the discount, and anyone living in the country or companies operating there can access the offer. He believes that the subsidy will eliminate several increases in the international price of fuels and also reduce transportation costs in supply chains.
