Fireblocks and FIS will offer DeFi to 6000+ capital market clients
Fireblocks, a custody platform, and payments giant FIS have partnered to increase crypto usage in capital markets by offering a comprehensive package of crypto trading and lending services.
Fireblocks joins forces with FIS
According to a press release from FIS, the partnership will give firms access to the largest crypto trading venues, liquidity providers, lending desks, and decentralized finance (DeFi) apps. Fireblocks' solutions will be available to all of FIS' more than 6,000 capital markets clients, beginning with its 1,000+ partners onboarded to its network. Those clients include a buy-side assortment of asset managers and hedge funds and banks and brokers.FIS capital markets clients will be able to move, store, and issue digital assets. They will receive access to self-custody digital asset wallet technology, an asset transfer network, and tools for staking, DeFi, and other advanced types of crypto investing.
Where are both companies now?
Fireblocks raised $550 million in Series E funding, backed by Spark Capital, Mammoth, General Atlantic, and other investors. The funding increased the organization's valuation to $8 billion. It also recently acquired First Digital, a technological platform for stablecoins and digital assets, and it hopes to acquire more startups as it grows.FIS, a $62 billion publicly traded fintech firm, is in a different situation since it is transitioning from traditional finance to more crypto partnerships. Only last week, it announced that merchants would be able to get a direct settlement in the stablecoin USDC. In May 2021, another FIS division collaborated with NYDIG, which provides crypto custody and trading, to enable banks to offer crypto services to their clients.
