According to a series of cryptocurrency proposals in the 2022 state budget, DeSantis proposed letting companies pay state fees in cryptocurrencies. On Dec. 9 in Tallahassee, DeSantis spoke at length about blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies. DeSantis also proposed allocating another $500,000 to research the potential of blockchain technology to maintain motor vehicle records, authenticate Medicaid transactions and detect possible fraud.The budget proposal says that the total amount of $700,000 is earmarked to enable a crypto-friendly Florida. It's not a strange proposal, as DeSantis' statements come after Miami Mayor Francis Suarez has been touting the benefits of the technology all year. Last month, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez announced he wanted to be the first U.S. lawmaker to accept a portion of his salary in Bitcoin.
