Crypto exchange FTX launches wide range of new services for institutional investors
Crypto exchange FTX today announced the launch of FTX Access, with the aim of offering more services to institutional investors.
FTX is targeting intuitional investors
The announcement states that FTX Access will initially offer advisory services, index products, trade execution, analytical tools, and capital introductions to institutional investors interested in gaining exposure to digital assets. The company will then continue to expand its offering of custody services, derivatives, structured products, and other asset management products.Gustavo Miguel, former Global Head of Derivatives at Coinbase, has been appointed U.S. Head of FTX Access. He will be responsible for growing FTX Access' U.S. business, new product launches and regulatory compliance. Miguel will be supported by Jon Cheesman, Global Head of FTX Access, who has been responsible for growing FTX's OTC client services.
FTX is expanding to Europe
While FTX is looking to expand its services to institutional investors in the U.S., the crypto exchange has also sought to offer its services across the European Economic Area through an unnamed investment firm licensed to operate across the region. FTX Europe will be the European equivalent of FTX.US, which launched in 2020 for U.S. users and now has an $8 billion valuation after raising $400 million in capital in January.It's unclear whether FTX Europe will offer similar services to institutional clients in Europe. Still, the move suggests that FTX hopes to compete with companies like Fireblocks and Coinbase, which already offer custody and asset management for institutions.
