In a tweet Friday, President Brett Harrison announced that users can sign up now to be the first to learn more about our upcoming stocks platform. This includes details on web/mobile access, trade execution, asset support, and FTX's crypto platform integration. It has been known that the exchange plans to enter other markets, including crypto derivatives, through the acquisition of Ledger Holdings.Harrison had tweeted back in January that FTX.US was actively working on its stock trading service and hinted at some of the features it hoped to offer, such as live BBO and historical candles, stock screening/search functionality, portfolio performance tracking, order/trading details. In the comments, he also confirmed that FTX would offer options trading.
Other crypto exchanges are also diversifying into stocks
Last month, eToro also announced that it will offer trading in stocks and ETFs to its U.S. clients, as it believes hat investors who start with cryptocurrencies will tend to diversify their investments over time. Smaller rival Bitstamp USA, one of the oldest active crypto exchanges, is also considering moving into trading stocks, non-fungible tokens and crypto derivatives.Offering low-cost stock trading would allow these crypto exchanges to attract a similar user base as Robinhood, which offers both crypto and stock trading. Robinhood is currently approaching the market from the opposite direction as the two exchanges, starting with equities and moving into crypto trading.
