Instagram to organize a three-day event for NFT creators
Social media giant Instagram is set to host an event that would help content creators grow their audience on the platform. The project include artists working in the nonfungible token (NFT) market who want to expand their reach.
Instagram to host development event for creators
In an annoucement, Facebook-owned Instagram said that it will host a professional development event series. The event is designed to help content creators grow their audience and make more money using the platform. Apparently, the social platform is targeting creators across various industries, including NFTs. The Creator Week event will run June 8 to 10.Instagram has invited 5,000 creators from the United States to attend the event. In addition, the company intends to expand the program to France and other European markets in the future.
In a statement, Instagram VP of global partnerships Charles Porch said that the event would help creators build their online communities and grow their businesses. “They have told us they need more information on how to do that, not just from us, but from other creators,” he added.
Instagram is looking to enter the NFT market
Evidently, the event could be a way for the social media giant to enter the NFT market. In fact, NFT artist Sean Williams tweeted that he had been invited to the event. However, he suggested that Instagram is reaching out to the NFT community because it's currently building its NFT platform.In his tweet, Williams stated that “INSTAGRAM IS BUILDING AN NFT PLATFORM RIGHT NOW, AND THEY’RE REACHING OUT TO UPCOMING ARTISTS IN THE NFT SPACE TO HELP THEM BUILD IT. THE CATCH? They’re reaching out to artists IN OUR COMMUNITY to give them insight on what the NFT community needs.” He added that:
In recent months, the NFT industry has witnessed a lot of adoption. As an example, several media companies and celebrities have launched NFT collections. That being the case, the decision allowed many to raise millions of dollars from the sales.
During Creator Week, Instagram will host several sessions for its guests. Notably, the sessions will include an industry execs panel called How to Get Discovered on Instagram, and other panels like How to Start a Podcast, and How to Supercharge Your Community. The latter focuses on teaching creators to raise money for nonprofits.
