KPMG Canada acquires a World of Women NFT

Accounting, tax and advisory firm KPMG Canada has announced that it has acquired a World of Women (WoW) NFT.

The NFT, Women #2681, was acquired on Feb. 13 for 25 ETH before being transferred to a separate wallet. The company also announced that it owns the Ethereum Name Service (ENS) domain name kpmgca.eth. The consulting giant said the purchase of NFT is to better advise its clients looking to enter the market. KPMG previously announced that it added Ether (ETH) and Bitcoin (BTC) to its balance sheet in early February.

"This acquisition reflects our belief not only in the continued growth of NFTs but in the value of WoW and its mission. Having now gone through the process, we are well positioned to guide our clients around building a business strategy for NFTs, including acquiring and safeguarding NFTs."

What is World of Women?

World of Women (WoW) is one of the most sought-after women-led NFT projects in the space. When World of Women launched on July 27, 2021, the goal was to bring more attention to women and diversify the NFT space. Since launching in November, it has made a meteoric rise to the top of the NFT charts, fetching a minimum price of 8.5 ETH (about $24,000) on the secondary marketplace OpenSea.

The project has benefited greatly from publicity by actress Reese Witherspoon, whose media company Hello Sunshine partnered with the project in February. The project has also been very active on the charity side, adding women's and climate rights activist Inna Modja to its team as a philanthropic advisor. The charity aspect was also one of the reasons why KPMG Canada chose the NFT.
