Lawyers for Bitcoin launderer suspect in talks for resolution without trial

As per a recent report from CNBC, the "resolution" of the case is being discussed between a federal prosecutor and the lawyers of the woman. The two are working out ways to bring the case to a conclusion with the chances of a possible trial. Moreover, Heather "Razzlekhan" Morgan, wife of Ilya "Dutch" Lichtenstein, could be offered a plea deal in the case wherein the Justice Department has already seized $3.6 billion in bitcoin.Formerly a rapper, Morgan, 31, was released from custody last Friday after the successful carriage of a $3 million bail bond. She appeared in court via a phone from her home in New York City. This is because she earlier told Judge Robin Meriweather that she had Covid-19.

The couple has been charged with using Bitcoin to launder around $3.6 billion that has already been seized by authorities. Furthermore, the couple is accused of conspiring to launder as many as 119,754 bitcoins that were stolen after a hacker had implemented 2,000 transactions that were unauthorized in nature.The couple was declared as a flight risk, but as per another report from CNBC, a lawyer for the New York couple said that they won't be a flight risk because "they want to stay near the frozen embryos of the wife." The lawyer said that Morgan and Lichtenstein "previously froze several of her embryos at a hospital in New York in anticipation of starting a family together."
