ATOM 2.0 Proposal Updates

Governance voting for the ATOM 2.0 Updates was supposed to start yesterday (24th October), however, a new proposal has been put forward (The Cosmos Hub v1.1) that addresses some of the concerns around the large allocation of newly issued tokens that would go towards the treasury. Basically, critics of the previous proposal outlined the fact that adding so much supply would have a huge impact on token price and dilute the supply considerably.

The main argument was over what these funds would be used for as there was no clear spending plan for the 36 month period of the ATOM 2.0 rollout. Subsequently, the new proposal has changed the proposed funding into blocks that would be voted on at each 12 month interval as required, as can be seen in the chart below.

Additionally, the new proposal specifies what the majority of the spending will entail (capitalising the allocator and bootstrapping validators until the new source of revenue is sufficient enough to replace the subsidy)

Overall, the new proposal is clearer and provides a more robust model for tokenomics. Voting on this updated proposal is set to begin on the 31st October - any further changes we will update here!
