MicroStrategy plans to buy and hold Bitcoin ‘vigorously’
The co-founder and leader of the business intelligence company MicroStrategy, Michael Saylor proclaimed to the company’s shareholders that his firm has decided to “vigorously pursue” its reserve assets plans to purchase and hold more Bitcoin.

The world’s largest single-wallet holder of Bitcoin with 129,218 BTC with an approximate value of $5.1 billion, MicroStrategy filed its 2022 Proxy Statement with the SEC on April 14. In the filing, Saylor raised the company’s success in becoming the early bird to recognize the potential of Bitcoin and adding value for its customers and shareholders.The document outlines the profit margin of $1.2 billion from holding BTC as the company only paid $3.9 billion for the purchases. Saylor writes:
“Our parallel strategy to acquire and hold Bitcoin has been a tremendous success.”He has recently hinted at buying more Bitcoin through a tweet.
The letter to stakeholders also stated that despite the company’s Bitcoin holdings being well in profit, its executives are still struggling to obtain liability insurance. Saylor, who has 68.1% ownership of MicroStrategy, added that he has offered the insurance out of his own pocket to settle down the issue.
He has displayed confidence to achieve what the company has planned by stating that he strongly believes that the company has “the right team in place to position us [the company] to deliver exceptional value to our customers and excellent financial results for our stockholders.”

By ending the year 2021 with the purchase of Bitcoin worth $94.2 million, MicroStrategy has been in the headlines this year too. In February, the company bought 660 BTC units for $25 million and in March it made a surprising announcement of borrowing $205 million to buy more Bitcoin.On one side where many big names are praising the moves of MicroStrategy, many have shown concerns about the company’s stability if the Bitcoin value drops.
