Netflix will cover the QuadrigaCX scandal
The cryptocurrency space has witnessed numerous scandals in recent years. Several cryptocurrency exchanges have closed shops, including the now-infamous Mt. Gox crypto exchange.However, one of the exchanges that is stuck in recent memory is QuadrigaCX. The now-defunct Canadian-based cryptocurrency exchange closed shop last year after the owner died and no one had access to the keys to the platform’s cold storage wallet.
Netflix has now revealed it will make a documentary covering the events of the major scandal. Titled “Trust No One: The Hunt for the Crypto King,” the film is set to premiere by next year. Netflix said the movie “Follow a group of investors turned sleuths as they try to unlock the suspicious death of cryptocurrency multimillionaire Gerry Cotten and the missing $250 million they believe he stole from them.”
The movie is based on how investors and traders lost more than $250 million following the suspicious death of cryptocurrency multimillionaire Gerry Cotten.
Some thought Cotten was not dead
Some people believed that Cotten hadn’t actually died but had instead faked his death and fled with customer funds. Towards the end of 2019, lawyers representing some affected customers requested that Canadian police dig up his grave to check he was actually there. However, this request was denied by the Canadian police.According to postmortem findings from Ernst & Young, the CEO was siphoning funds from QuadrigaCX prior to his death. He was spending the funds on luxury items, such as cars, planes and yachts. The report revealed that QuadrigaCX was never operating a legitimate business
