Newton funding round led by DV Chain
As per the announcement by Newton, Series B was led by DV Chain and saw participation from major firms, including Singh Capital Partners, Anthony Pompliano, Tiny Capital, and Snowdevil Capital, and asset manager CI Financial.According to a separate press release by CI Financial, which has around $304 billion in assets under management, Series B was successfully concluded on February 4.
Newton is a crypto platform that provides traders in Canada with access to over 60 different crypto assets. It aims to become a restricted dealer and has filed an application for the same with the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) and the securities regulatory authorities in all other provinces and territories of Canada.
Allocation of funds
The proceeds from the funding round will be used to develop the company's innovative vision, platform, and infrastructure. Newton plans to allocate some part of the funds for attracting new talent. The company also aims to intensify user acquisition by growing its marketing and distribution channels.Newton's co-founder and CEO Dustin Walper said that the company is working hard to position itself as the future of fintech. He added:
"Through this financing, we are thrilled that we were not only able to grow our relationships with existing partners and attract new top-tier investors, but also welcome CI Financial as a strategic investor."Last year, CI Global Asset Management, the subsidiary of CI Financial, became the world's first company to provide direct exposure to Bitcoin and Ethereum through Exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and mutual funds.
"This investment in Newton reinforces CI's commitment to strengthen our leadership position in digital assets in Canada," says CI Financial's President and Chief Operating Officer, Darie Urbanky.
