The wide receiver shared in a tweet Monday that he will accept his salary in Bitcoin as part of a deal with Square Inc.-backed mobile payment service Cash App. He tweeted, "It's a NEW ERA & to kick that off, I'm hyped to announce that I'm taking my new salary in Bitcoin, thanks to @CashApp," and ended his tweet by announcing a $1M Bitcoin giveaway, writing, "To all my fans out there, no matter where u r: Thank you! I'm giving back a total of $1M in BTC rn too. Drop your $cashtag w #OBJBTC & follow @CashApp NOW."Odell Beckham Jr is the latest NFL athlete to announce he will be paid in Bitcoin, which could earn him up to $4.5 million in BTC in a year. He is not the first NFL athlete to do so. Earlier this year, Aaron Rodgers shared that he would be taking a portion of his salary in BTC as part of a partnership with Cash App. Rodgers reportedly earns a salary of $33.5 million, and his 4-year contract with the Packers is worth $134 million.
