NFT platform Autograph raised $140M in funding to ramp up services
The popular NFT platform, which is led by Thomas Edward Patrick Brady Jr. or popularly known as Tom Brady, an American football quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League, Autograph, has revealed the completion of a $170M Series B funding round.
Autograph Series B Co-Led by a16z and Kleiner Perkins
The Series B funding round of Autograph was led co-led by Andreessen Horowitz, popularly called a16z, which has already funded more than 50 crypto-based startups, and Kleiner Perkins, an American venture capital firm. The press release from PRNewswire revealed the new funding round, which followed a Series A round in July 2021 co-led by 01A and Velvet Sea Ventures.As per the release, the Series B funding round of Autograph also includes funding from Lightspeed Partner Nicole Quinn and Katie Haun's firm and a follow-up investment from 01A.
The press release also confirmed that "with this latest round of capital, Autograph will continue to scale its NFT technology with the world's most iconic sports and entertainment partners, bringing the power and possibilities created by Web3 to the mainstream."
New members
New members have been added to the Tom Brady-led Autograph team who would be responsible for providing their expertise to help the growth of the NFT platform. These members include Katie Haun (who leads her own firm), Arianna Simpson (General Partner at a16z), Ilya Fushman (Partner at Kleiner Perkins).Chris Dixon (General Partner at a16z) has been confirmed as a member of the board of advisers for Autograph, which also includes current members 01A partner Dick Costolo and Velvet Sea Ventures' partner Michael Lazerow.
The press release also stated that new partnerships have been struck by Autograph and will be revealed soon by the firm. The firm also has onboarded a number of experts as the board of advisors, including singer Abel "The Weeknd" Tesfaye.
