PayPal executive joins Google Pay to work on crypto payments
Google has hired a former executive from PayPal executive to work on cryptocurrency payments via Google Pay, the payment arm of the Alphabet-led company. The president of commerce, Bill Ready, told Bloomberg about the new hire and confirmed Google's intention of jumping on the crypto bandwagon.

GooglePay is the payment arm of Google and provides seamless digital payments which can be completed via a few clicks on the phone. However, the payment giant still doesn't support cryptocurrencies, and for that reason, Arnold Goldberg, the former executive at PayPal, has joined the firm."Crypto is something we pay a lot of attention to [...] As user demand and merchant demand evolves, we'll evolve with it," said Bill Ready.Ready also revealed in his statement with Bloomberg that it aims to become a "comprehensive digital wallet" that has the capability to include digital tickets, airline passes, and vaccine passports.
Google's expansion in crypto
The Alphabet-led company has been expanding quickly in the crypto industry and has already partnered with many firms. Recently, the Kraken app added support for Google Pay, and the firm also partnered with Bakkt to launch digital assets to consumers.However, this is not it. Ready confirmed Bloomberg that after a number of partnerships in 2021 related to blockchain and crypto, Google would more actively work in the crypto world, striking more partnerships. The search engine has recently also allowed crypto-related firms to advertise on the browser without breaking the ground rules. On the other hand, companies like Spain aim to completely ban crypto promotion.
