Poly Network hack ends with a happy ending
The hacker who performed the largest DeFi hack in the history of more than $600 million of Poly Network has released the private key for the remaining $141 million of cryptocurrencies.
Poly Network finally got the private key
Poly Network, the cross-chain DeFi protocol that was the victim of the largest DeFi hack in history and lost $610 million worth of funds, has finally received the private key for nearly $141 million in remaining funds. PolyNetwork thanked the hacker for returning the remaining funds and said they were ready for a new "journey." The protocol had addressed the hacker as "White Hat" and even offered him a job as head of security.The hacker agreed to return the funds but claimed he could have made billions if he had decided to transfer other Shitcoins. The communication between PolyNetwork and the hacker lasted almost two weeks, during which he initially returned nearly $400 million worth of assets, while the remaining $200 million was returned today.
What happens now with Poly Network?
PolyNetwork acted immediately to restore functionality to the platform. It resumed cross-chain functionality for a number of tokens after it was shut down due to the exploit.The project is now attempting a fresh start and promised to improve its security measures. The protocol has also unlocked USDT frozen by Tether and completed the recovery of the USDC fund. It remains to be seen if the hacker will accept PolyNetwork's offer to join as a senior security advisor.
