PUBG Creator Krafton, Inc. partners with Solana Labs to support Blockchain-based games
The creators of the internationally popular game PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, KRAFTON, Inc. has announced that it is entering the crypto space by signing a deal with decentralized blockchain Solana Labs with the aim to build a long-term cooperative relationship to support the design, development, and marketing of Blockchain-based games and services and to jointly cooperate on investment opportunities.

As per the statement by the Lead of Web 3.0 Roundtable at KRAFTON, Inc, Hyungchul Park, South Korea-based Krafton aims to establish its Web 3 ecosystem by working closely with companies like Solana Labs. The company believes that Solana’s best global high-performance blockchain represents the best of the Web 3.0 ecosystem. Park states:“Through this cooperation, KRAFTON will acquire the insight needed to accelerate its investment in and output of blockchain-based experiences.”On the other hand, Johnny Lee, head of Games Business Development at Solana Labs, also commented on the partnership by stating that the company is seeing “gamers increasingly seek out on-chain games and gaming companies who respond quickly to this demand will set themselves up well for ongoing success.”
Increased investments and collaborations
The agreement highlights Krafton’s commitment to accelerate new business opportunities this year. In February, the company announced that it will enter the web 3.0 and NFT businesses, utilizing its game creation and operations expertise from BGMI, which is well-liked by gamers across the world with as many as 696,000 active users playing concurrently in early 2022. Since then, Seoul Auction Blue, XX Blue, and NAVER Z have announced investments and collaborations with the company in other fields connected to NFT, metaverse, and blockchain.The company has also invested $6.6 million in a couple of Korea-based NFT startups, showing its support to budding Web 3 operations.
