Saxo Bank launches crypto services for younger clientele
Online trading and investment firm Saxo Bank has launched a crypto offering that allows customers to trade Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin against the EUR, USD and JPY. Trading will be available from a single margin account without having to maintain a crypto wallet.
Hours will be from Sunday to Friday evening
Clients in selected markets can trade Crypto FX pairs during normal FX trading hours from Sunday to Friday evening. They will have the ability to open both long and short positions in the three major cryptocurrencies. These options are available for trading only to UK clients who qualify for a professional account. Evidently, Saxo Bank believes that retail traders may not be able to handle the volatility in these pairs.Saxo Bank already offers clients access to 40 different cryptocurrency trackers and ETNs, which have seen high trading volumes so far this year.
Appealing to a younger audience
The Danish broker listing crypto services on its exchange is another sign that traditional finance is interested in cryptocurrencies. Saxo Bank's target audience is mainly forex traders. The average age of Saxo Bank's clients is around 40 years of age. Even so, the bank saw that in 2020 a younger audience started using their platform.
