The Bored Ape Yacht Club is on its way to Christie's
Christie's Auction House has officially announced that a bored ape will be auctioned off in Hong Kong. The auction will also include Cryptopunks and Meebits.
The rumor has been confirmed
Over the past few days, there have been many rumors in the Bored Ape Yacht Club community that the apes were going to Christie's. A community-created newspaper called "TheBoredApeGazette" published an article stating that Christie's NFT specialist, Noah Davis, joined the BAYC Discord channel and told the apes Christie's would be auctioning off the items next month at its Hong Kong location. Davis sent the Discord messages before the official announcement, so it was not 100% certain if it would actually happen.A few days later, the creators of The Bored Ape Yacht Club announced on Discord that they had indeed spoken with Christie's about the upcoming auction and that they wanted to wait before the formal announcement on Friday.
So what about the auction?
The auction house has issued a press release showing Bored Ape #8746, a rare zombie punk, and a 0.28% rarity skeleton Meebit. The bored ape in question is a six-trait cheetah fur ape that is wearing a suit.According to TheBoredApegazette's research, Christie's wallet also contains three other apes, all wearing suits and a total of 10 CryptoPunks and four Meebits.
The auction is an important moment for BAYC, as it is a very young project compared to Cryptopunks and Meebits. Because it is so new compared to other projects, there has always been discussion on Twitter about whether the project has established itself enough yet. With events like this auction, it's pretty safe to say that it's becoming an established NFT project in this space.
The auction will take place on September 17 at 02:00 PM (HKT), which is 2 AM Eastern Standard Time.

A Gold fur bored ape broke the record after selling for 199 Ethereum, or over $500,000.Meebits also finally reached a higher floor than their original price during LarvaLabs' Dutch Auction. Meebits were auctioned off at a high of 2.5 ETH, and today the price of a Meebit finally rose above that number.
