The City of Austin, which desires to be “a place where new technologies and innovations are created and developed with both public and private uses and applications,” has come up with two initiatives – the first program is to ensure that the city promotes blockchain technology's benefits and "promotes equity, diversity, accessibility, and inclusion" in the digital workplace.Mayor Steve Adler of Austin asked the city manager to research how the city can use Web3 and blockchain in 20 different aspects, including supply chain management, smart contracts, arts, media, and identity verification.
The second initiative by the mayor orders the city manager to conduct a study aiming to bring ways to adopt Bitcoin and crypto-related policies on the behalf of the authorities.
The two initiatives seem to enable Austin residents to legally pay their bills with cryptocurrencies.

Austin is following the path of Miami, New York City, and the state of Colorado in adopting cryptocurrency and exploring initiatives for planned policy adoption.In November last year, Miami and New York launched City Coin on the Stacks layer-1 blockchain. Before that, Miami also hosted the largest Bitcoin conference in history.
Austin, which started exploring blockchain technology as early as 2020 by proposing to use smart contracts for the MyPass protocol, is also developing its own program.
Philadelphia has also displayed its interest in joining the squad. On the other hand, Colorado’s Governor stated in a recent interview that the state is exploring ways to accept crypto for “state tax-related purposes.”
