Toncoin recruits Andrew Rogozov, Former Exec at VK dubbed as "Facebook of Russia"
Out of the many spin-offs of the Telegram Open Network (TON), a decentralized computer tech originally developed by Telegram Groups, one of the most popular ones is Toncoin. As per the reports, the former executive at VK, a Russian online social media and social networking service based in Saint Petersburg, Andrew Rogozov, will join Toncoin.
Toncoin brings in reinforcements
The Toncoin team has brought the former vice president at VK, the parent company of "Facebook of Russia" to develop and strengthen the blockchain-based product. As per the report, Rogozov will help build the project and get mainstream adoption.Rogozov revealed that he would move to an advisor role at VK, as per CoinDesk's exclusive report, while joining Toncoin. On the other hand, VK stated in a statement that Rogozov" contributed significantly to the company over the years he's been working here."
It was stated that Rogozov will now advise the VK CEO Vladimir Kirienko on key management policies, strategic planning, and social networks development.
Rogozov bringing people with him
Rogozov said that he is bringing "several people" with him while not naming them. "We are now in talks with the Telegram team as well as the teams of developers working on various projects" based on the Toncoin blockchain, said Rogozov, as per CoinDesk's report.Recently, Toncoin was backed by Telegram CEO Pavel Durov via a Telegram post which led to a price surge of more than 60%. Furthermore, the offspring of Telegram's TON has also partnered with Donate, a Telegram-verified payments service.
"Unlike the original TON, Toncoin is independent of Telegram. But I wish its team the same success. Coupled with the right go-to-market strategy, they have all they need to build something epic," said Durov in a Telegram post.
