Trezor users faced a phishing attack due to a MailChimp exploit
Trezor, a hardware wallet manufacturer for cryptocurrencies, confirmed that its users received scam mails from hackers who were trying to phish the users of the wallet to steal their funds. The attackers targeted MailChimp users via a mailing list which was then used to send fake notifications and link to the email owners to trick them.
Trezor users went through a lot of trouble
It is important to note that Trezor users began receiving a number of emails regarding their wallets being compromised. As a result, the email asked the users to download another new and updated version of the Suite and set up a new PIN. It is important to note that the mail came from Trezor.us and not Trezor.io domain. The official domain is the second one.The hardware wallet manufacturer took to Twitter to announce that this was not the official email of the firm and that they only use Trezor.io. It also revealed that the users who were affected were the ones who subscribed to the newsletter from MailChimp and it seems that this is an "insider" job who has access to the mailing list. The fake email read:
We regret to inform you that Trezor has experienced a security incident involving data belonging to 106,856 of our customers and that the wallet associated with your e-mail address [email] is within those affected by the breach.At last, the email asked the users to download the latest version of the Suite and "follow the instrucions to set up a new PIN for your wallet."

Trezor went on to confirm this phishing attempt that was initiated by the "insider" and also said that they will not be "communicating by newsletter until the situation is resolved." Furthermore, it is important to note that the scammers decided to copy everything that the official contains, even the banner that warns investors of scammers.But things took an interesting turn when a user pointed out that MailChimp and MailJet both have been compromised.
