Tribeca Festival partners with OKX
According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, Tribeca Festival, which has been working with AT&T and American Express as its sponsors from the time it started the event, has chosen a less conventional brand this year. The exclusive partnership, negotiated by talent firm Creative Artists Agency, would reportedly be worth tens of millions of dollars over a three-year period.Not only is OKX a sponsor of the event, which takes place in Manhattan from June 8 to June 19, but the exchange will also give year-round support for Tribeca programming in the United States and internationally.
In 2014, AT&T took over as the festival's primary sponsor from American Express. As Tribeca's contract with AT&T ended, Jane Rosenthal, the festival's co-founder and chief executive, and other organizers began looking for a new corporate sponsor. They reached an agreement with OKX because of their interest in new media formats.
Ms. Rosenthal explained, "It felt like it was going to be the right fit for two companies that have an intention to drive forward new ways of storytelling and new ways of supporting artists in all different categories."
Eyes on NFT and Metaverse world
There are hints that the festival will explore the metaverse, as OKX CEO Haidar Rafique stated that the two organizations could collaborate to help fund the production of films designed for the metaverse and allow creators to raise funds on the blockchain and commercialize their work with digital tokens."We want to provide the tools to creators. Over the years to come, we will lean in, help them create these stories, and partner with hardware providers like Facebook," Mr. Rafique added.Notably, this year's festival will include a commemorative NFT, with intentions to expand into the NFT world in the coming years, according to Ms. Rosenthal.
