TRON set to explore opportunities and promote blockchain in Suriname
A number of nations around the globe, including banking firms and government agencies, are working on ways to leverage blockchain technology to benefit their customers. In the light of said adoption, TRON, a decentralized, open-source blockchain-based operating system with smart contract functionality based on proof-of-stake consensus, announced its intentions to expand in Suriname, a country on the northeastern Atlantic coast of South America.
TRON to explore investment opportunities in Suriname
As per a report from Bloomberg, delegates from the TRON network visited President Chandrikapersad Santokhi on Thursday, April 28, to introduce him to the ecosystem of the proof-of-stake blockchain. According to CDS, the delegation was joined by DNA members Wang Chuanrui, Asiskumar Gajadien, and Latin America General Manager Zyanya Bejarano.Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Business, and International Cooperation (BIBIS) will be responsible for establishing structures for cooperation with TRON by President Santokhi.
"Blockchain is a decentralized technology for efficiently capturing transactional information in a way that makes it difficult or impossible to modify, hack or tamper with the system. As technology changes, we as a country should not sleep," said Parliament Member Asiskumar Gajadien.The government of Suriname will collaborate with TRON and dig out various ways through which blockchain technology could benefit the people and the economy of the nation. The TRON-sponsored mission will seek to raise awareness regarding blockchain technology throughout the Caricom region and also explore investment opportunities in the nation.
The TRON delegation departed Suriname on Friday, April 29, as the Ministry of BIBIS will continue to maintain collaborative efforts and a strategic partnership.
