UFC fighters to get bonuses in the form of Bitcoin
The popularity of cryptocurrencies has reached its peak, but the adoption rate hasn’t budged as the first quarter of 2022 ended. With this increasing rate of adoption, the Ultimate Fighting Championship UFC has confirmed that it will be providing Bitcoin in the form of a bonus to the players.
Expanded deal between Crypto.com and UFC
Popular cryptocurrency exchange, Crypto.com, which recently confirmed the partnership with UFC, has expanded the deal. As a part of this expanded deal, Bitcoin bonuses will be paid to the most-deserving fighters in the match, which will be decided by the audience via a voting mechanism.As per a report from Yahoo Sports, in this extension of the 10-year, $175 million deal between UFC and Crypto.com which is also the biggest deal in the history of the MMA firm, the player with the highest votes will win “$30,000 worth of bitcoin, with $20,000 for second place, and $10,000 for third.”
UFC president Dana White confirmed in his statement:
This new Fan Bonus of the Night is an awesome way to get fans more engaged in our events while rewarding the fighters for bad-ass performances.
Two $50,000 performance bonuses
The extended deal with Crypto.com and the MMA firm “will join the two $50,000 performance bonuses that UFC gives out at each event, plus the two $50,000 bonuses awarded to each athlete in the bout that’s named ‘Fight of the Night.’”UFC has mostly been criticized for the payment it proceeds to its players, and as a result, fighters who fight on a “10-and-10” bout will now get an overwhelming bonus of $50K if they earn the title of “Performer of the Night,” and this will be paid in Bitcoin.
