MetaMask blocks access to users in Venezuela
A user named EzioRed reported on Twitter that the wallet developed by ConsenSys is blocking operations in Ethereum for users in Venezuela. He shared a screenshot showing that he cannot perform transactions with his wallet. Although the wallet is blocked it seems like it is not MetaMask itself blocking the users, but Infura is the service provider that MetaMask uses. The wallet help page also states that MetaMask and Infura are not available in certain countries for legal reasons.We at Cryptonary have not been able to have this confirmed by MetaMask, and it is unclear to what extent the reported blockages represent a tightening of rules against other countries sanctioned by the United States and other governments.
Irian artists have been removed from OpenSea
While users from Venezuela are reporting that they have been denied access to their wallet, reports are also piling up from artists in Iran that they have been blocked from the NFT marketplace OpenSea. We at Cryptonary were unable to contact OpenSea to confirm this, but more and more Iranian users reported that their trading account was deactivated without notice and without any explanation.An Iranian artist saw his collection of 218 ETH traded volumes disappear. Another artist explained that his collectors could no longer see his art work and that he was locked out of his account. Users from Iran also report similar problems to those from Venezuela when trying to access their MetaMask wallet. So there is a possibility that the two incidents are related, but at the time of writing neither company has issued a statement.
