Visa wants to help creators grow their businesses with NFTs
Payments giant Visa has officially launched its Creator program, first announced in October, to help artists grow their businesses through the use of non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

Visa says the Creator Program is a year-long immersion into the world of NFTs that includes technical and product mentorship, community building, access to thought leaders, exposure to Visa customers and partners, and a one-time stipend. During the program, the company hopes to learn more about the opportunities and challenges creators face and the role NFTs could play in monetizing their work.“NFTs have the potential to become a powerful accelerator for the creator economy,” Cuy Sheffield, Visa’s head of crypto, said in a statement. “Through the Visa Creator Program, we want to help this new breed of small and micro businesses tap into new mediums for digital commerce.”
The payments giant is on the lookout for crypto talent
Two weeks ago, Visa also invited students to apply for its crypto development program as the company looks to further develop its in-house crypto talent. Those hired under the program would rotate into Visa teams to work on DeFi, NFTs, and CBDC projects. This is a clear sign that Visa is looking for talent to get more involved in the crypto space.Visa first showed interest in NFTs last August when it bought a CryptoPunk. At the time, Visa wanted to play a role in NFT commerce, helping consumers buy NFTs and merchants accept payments for NFTs as easily as for traditional e-commerce goods.
