NFT verification is available for users with Twitter Blue
The social media platform's subscription service, Twitter Blue, launched the feature Thursday with a sensational introductory video and a step-by-step explanation page. Currently, NFT marketplace OpenSea's API supports Twitter's profile picture feature. Supported wallets include Coinbase Wallet, MetaMask, Rainbow, Argent, Trust, and Ledger Live.The implementation is a big win for the NFT community, which is plagued by so-called "right-click savers" who think the idea of owning NFTs is useless and nothing more than a silly joke. They no longer have this problem with the new feature because owning an NFT now gives them concrete proof of ownership on Twitter. In practice, a Twitter account with the NFT profile image feature enabled displays a range of information about the NFT in question, including its creator, its specific properties and characteristics, its network (such as Ethereum), and the token standard used to deploy it.

On the other hand, opponents of NFTs argue that what Twitter is done is annoying, and some are even saying they will block every user with a verified NFT as their profile picture. Even Elon Musk has commented on the new feature, tweeting that he finds it annoying and thinks Twitter should use its resources for other topics. He stated: "Twitter is spending engineering resources on this bs while crypto scammers are throwing a spambot block party in every thread." Although other users were quick to point out that not long ago Elon Musk himself devoted his resources to accepting Dogecoin as payment for goods in the Tesla Store.As with most discussions on social media, users are very divided, but there is one thing that both camps cannot ignore: The NFT space is growing fast. It looks like Twitter has spotted an opportunity by allowing users to verify their NFTs and monetize them simultaneously, as only people who pay $3 for Twitter Blue can use them. Meta also revealed yesterday that Facebook and Instagram are looking to integrate NFTs into their platforms.
