Ark Invest’s ARKW fund to invest in Canadian crypto ETFs
Cathie Wood’s Ark Investment Management has revised its prospectus for its ARK Next Generation Internet ETF (ARKW). The asset manager wants to invest in Canadian cryptocurrency ETFs via the ARKW fund.Ark Invest filed the prospectus with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission during the weekend. The investment firm said, “The fund may have exposure to cryptocurrency, such as bitcoin, indirectly through an investment in a grantor trust or in other pooled investment vehicles, such as exchange-traded funds domiciled in Canada.”
Furthermore, Ark Invest informed investors of the risk involved in trading cryptocurrencies, even indirectly. “The Fund’s indirect investment in bitcoin remains subject to the volatility experienced by the cryptocurrency exchanges and other cryptocurrency trading venues. Such volatility can adversely affect an investment in the Fund,” Ark Invest added.
The United States has yet to approve a single crypto ETF
The United States is yet to approve a single cryptocurrency ETF application. Currently, there are nine Bitcoin ETF proposals, including one from Ark Invest and three Ether ETFs. Furthermore, there are a few Bitcoin futures ETF applications on the SEC’s desk.However, the SEC is yet to approve a single ETF proposal.
