Australian Bitcoin ETF is expected to begin trading next week
Next week, Australia's first Bitcoin (BTC) exchange-traded fund (ETF) will be listed on the Cboe equities trading platform. It is expected that $1 billion will be invested in the country's first bitcoin ETF.

According to a report by the Australian news outlet AFR, the clearing house that regulates access to the country's equity capital markets would give the green light for the country's first Bitcoin ETF after a sufficient number of market players agree to rigorous margin limitations. At ASX Clear, a major clearing house at the heart of Australia's stocks capital markets, four market players have agreed to meet the stringent margin requirements required to cover the settlement risks connected with Bitcoin.Market makers, brokers, clearing houses, clearing players, and investors will have seven days to prepare for the launch of the new product. In other words, the Cosmos Asset Management Bitcoin ETF, which is currently in front of ASX Clear, will be able to trade on the Cboe when the market starts on April 27th, as regulatory approval has been granted.
Is Australia becoming crypto-friendly?
The bitcoin ETF's triumph comes two years after the Australian Securities and Investments Commission wrote to a bitcoin financial promoter, suggesting that a listed retail bitcoin product in Australia was not feasible. The Australian regulators are adopting a different strategy than their counterparts in the United States, who have been rejecting a Bitcoin ETF for quite some time.However, not everything is well in Australia, as the Commonwealth Bank of Australia's new crypto product has been delayed due to concerns expressed by the Australian Securities and Investment Commission. Despite the regulatory hitch, the bank has declared that it will proceed to the second pilot stage while addressing policymakers' consultation comments.
