Solana to launch Web3-focused Saga
Solana, the most performant blockchain, is planning to make a solid entry into the telecom industry with the launch of an Android phone. During an event in New York City, Anatoly Yakovenko, the CEO and co-founder of Solana Labs, unveiled the new Android phone called Saga. The company has also launched a new subsidiary dedicated to Web3 mobile apps called Solana Mobile.The team behind Solana has aimed to make Saga focused on Web3, which includes emerging sectors like NFT marketplaces and decentralized trading platforms. The key specifications of the Android phone include a 6.6-inch display, 512 GB of storage, and private key security measures. Yakovenko stated:
"Almost 7 billion people use smartphones around the world, and more than 100 million people hold digital assets - and both of those numbers will continue to grow. Saga sets a new standard for the web3 experience on mobile."Pre-orders for Saga need a $100 fully-refundable deposit that will be applied to the estimated $1,000 final price. In addition, pre-orders will be delivered in early 2023 with a free Saga Pass, an NFT that goes with the first batch of Saga devices, and the first ticket to influencing the SMS platform's direction.
Solana Mobile
Moreover, the new Web3-focused subsidiary Solana Mobile will build Saga and offer developers a toolkit to create mobile-first applications on its blockchain. Solana Labs has allocated $10 million into a new ecosystem fund to help developers build apps using the Solana Mobile Stack.The press release stated that the Solana Mobile stack "provides a new set of libraries for wallets and apps, allowing developers to create rich mobile experiences on Solana."
